Answers to Research Questions Pt. 3
Q2: In near future, will the number of resellers increase?
A2: This question is quite hard to answer. As a personal opinion, I think the number of reselling will slightly rise. Although it is an easy way to earn money, it has a high risk of making loss.
From another perspective, right now the demand for Labubu doll is incredibly high and many people are trying to buy those dolls as much possible as so they can resell in some platforms. In addition, some people are trying to sell Labubu dolls on the street or trying to resell it buy looking alike to real ones. Resellers are putting the Labubu dolls in the box to resemble as if it is new and real with the higher price. Therefore, if another product that has a high need from the society, the number of resellers will automatically increase.
Q7: How does it differ from second-hand shops?
A7: Resellers set the price higher from the original. Second-hand shops make the price slightly lower than the original, but in a price that still can make profit. In addition, people who are running second-hand shops needs a license called "Second-hand goods dealer license".
Q12: What do original sellers do to stop resellers? Can they sue resellers?
A12: For example, Nintendo conducted a lottery for Nintendo Switch 2 with requirements to apply. This was a big success among preventing reselling. However, original sellers can't sue resellers since it is not restricted with law.
Q14: Which platform has the most resellers? (Mercari, Yahoo-Auction)
A14: Again, as a personal opinion, Mercari seemed to have the most resellers. Mercari is the easiest platform for everyone to sell and buy.
But actually, Amazon, eBay, and Mercari are the top three recommended platforms for resellers.
Q27: Is there any relationship between "Oshikatsu" and "Reselling"?
A27: Many resold products are anime goods, so I think the answer to this question could be a yes. Mostly new products and limited products are the popular items resold.

Thank you for your thoughtful responses. I found your comment about Labubu dolls particularly interesting. It shows how quickly reselling increases when there’s a popular or limited product, especially in niche communities. Your comparison between resellers and second-hand shops was also very clear. I agree that licensing and pricing strategies are key differences.
返信削除One area that I think deserves more research is the relationship between “oshikatsu” and reselling. It would be interesting to explore how fan culture fuels demand for certain goods and whether this leads to more ethical or unethical reselling behavior. Also, more data about which platforms have the highest concentration of resellers could help consumers make informed choices.
